salinomadd_salt_wave_flowmeter.jpg (10225 octets)Rapid gauging

  • Chemical trace gauging
  • Takes just a few minutes
  • In high flow water courses up to 20,000 l/s
  • Operates with cooking salt
  • Measures by integrating the salinity
  • Non polluting tracer
  • 15 freely programmable measuring sites can be stored

Presentation

Benefiting from many technical advances, the SALINOMADD is a complete and simple to use device. It allows a flow to be measured in just a few minutes using the integration method. The device records the passing of the salt wave and provides the flow in litres per second immediately at the end of the operation.

Tracing

The measuring probe is placed in the water course. At a sufficiently large distance upstream so that the tracer mixes perfectly with the water, a certain amount of salt is injected, previously diluted in a container with the river water (1 -12 grams per l/s of estimated flow). When the wave passes the device, it records the salinity values of the water. When the wave has passed, the flow of the water course is calculated and displayed.

Software under WINDOWS®

The SALINOMADD is supplied with software running under Windows. Before gauging, sites can be defined and graphs can be analyzed and exported for use in spreadsheets.

Software description

The WINDOWS® based software supplied with the SALINOMADD can be used to program in advance the characteristics of 15 sites to be measured. This data is logged into the device either before leaving the office or once on the sites using a laptop. It contains amongst others the name of the site, the location, the operator, the measurement interval, the limnigraphic height, the amount of salt injected and the injection distance. These last four parameters can be modified on site when acquiring a gauging reading directly using the unit's keyboard.

In order to check that the gauging is working correctly on the sites, the data recorded in the SALINOMADD can be transferred onto a PC or a laptop. Using the same software as described above, the data recorded can be displayed along with the graph of each gauging. A certain number of tools are available in the software. Using these, the flow can be recalculated by changing certain parameters and results can be printed with the graph as shown opposite. The data can also be exported for subsequent use in spreadsheets.

The SALINOMADD is supplied with its accessories (sensor with 10 m of cable, PC connection cable, calibration solution, software, etc.) in a rugged case, providing effective protection for the unit during transport.
