GroWeather
GroWeather systems measure and calculate a host of weather conditions. Using the information from the Growing Degree-Day System, farmers and growers can optimize the timing of planting, fertilizing, pesticide application, and harvesting.

With the information from the Evapotranspiration System, gardeners and landscape managers can conserve water ressources by irrigating at optimal times; ranchers can keep an eye on the level of heat stress on workers and livestock; and fire departments can monitor the potential fire hazard due to temperature and wind conditions and the moisture loss of nearby vegetation. The Comprehensive GroWeather System lets you do all this, and more. Backlit display for easy viewing.

The Growing Degree-Day System includes :

  • Outside temperature and growing degree-days (with user-settable base and upper thresholds) using a temperature sensor or probe.

The Evapotranspiration System includes :

  • Evapotranspiration (ET) using the Solar Radiation Sensor, External Temperature/Humidity Sensor, Anemometer, and GroWeatherLink/ET Data Logger.
  • Outside temperature and growing degree-days, outside humidity and dew point, and apparent temperature (temperature-humidity index) using the External Temperature/Humidity Sensor.
  • Wind speed, wind direction, wind run, and wind chill using the Anemometer.
  • Solar radiation and solar energy using the Solar Radiation Sensor.

Optional Functions include :

  • Daily rainfall, accumulated rainfall, and rate of rainfall using the Rain Collector.
  • Both air and soil temperature using any two temperature sensors or probes (except that only one External Temperature/Humidity Sensor may be used), or
  • Both air temperature and surface moisture on foliage using any temperature sensor or probe and the Leaf Wetness Sensor, or
  • All three (air and soil temperature and surface moisture on foliage) by connecting and disconnecting the temperature sensor or probe and the Leaf Wetness Sensor as needed (there share the same port).

Additional options include :

  • The ability to start or stop devices when alarm conditions are met using the Alarm Output Module.
  • Computer storage, analysis, and graphing using GroWeatherLink.
  • Data transmission using a telephone modem, a radio data link, or our Short-range Modem Pair.

Installation options include :

  • Mounting the sensors with the Radiation Shield and Sensor Mounting Arm.
  • Installing the system outdoors using the Complete System Shelter or Multi-Purpose Shelter and appropriate heater.
  • Powering the system in remote locations with the Solar Power Kit.

All systems include :

  • Barometric pressure with stored value and trend alarm.
  • Highs and lows with time and date.
  • AutoClear of daily amounts and highs and lows at user-selected time.
  • Alarms for selected functions.
