The 6500 Visible and 6505 UV/Visible high performance spectrophotometers feature photometric, kinetic, spectrum scanning, multi-wavelength, and quantitation capabilities. High quality split-beam optics reduce stray light and enhance overall reliability by minimizing the number of optical elements.

The units operate through a graphical user interface with a mouse, keypad and a VGA back lit monochrome LCD for user-friendly interactive control. Data can be printed on an optional internal printer or a desktop printer and can be downloaded to PC through the bidirectional RS232. Results can be downloaded by a single touch of the print key. The internal memory and data card can store methods and results for recall and allow unlimited memory capacity. In addition, an automatic results log allows readings to be stored or printed at user set time intervals.

Photometrics

  • For routine measurements of % Transmittance, Absorbance, and Concentration
  • Selectable units: ppb, ppm, µg/l, mg/l, g/l, M, %, or blank
  • Large dual display of wavelength and photometric reading

Spectrum Scanning

The 6500 and 6505 have full scanning capabilities with:

  • 4 scan intervals: 0.2nm, 1nm, 5nm, 10nm
  • Scan speeds to 1200nm/minute
  • Instant display of spectrum scan
  • Auto re-scale capability
  • Hard copy printouts of settings, scan, statistics, and G.L.P. compliant information
  • Post scan analysis including peak and valley detection, area under curve, and addition/subtration
  • Ability to repeat and/or print scan at user set intervals
  • Baseline correction

Multi-wavelength

  • Simultaneous reading and display of up to 4 wavelengths
  • Readings displayed in % Transmittance, Absorbance, or Concentration
  • Selection of primary and secondary wavelengths
  • Selectable calculation displayed instantly
  • Calibration performed via single touch of the calibration key
  • Hard copy printouts of settings, calculations and G.L.P. compliant information

Kinetics

  • % Transmittance or Absorbance value versus time plotted
  • Adjustable lag and run time
  • Run can be set to start at a user set level of photometric value
  • Graphical display of data
  • Auto re-scale capability
  • Post run analysis including line of best fit, initial value, sloope, and concentration calculation
  • Hard copy printouts of settings, graph and statistical information
  • Ability to perform runs on 4 cells simultaneously
  • Temperature control accessories available

Quantitation

Samples are measured at a single wavelength and Concentration calculated from Absorbance or % Transmittance using a calibration curve constructed from standards.

  • Selectable number of calibration points to be performed up to 20
  • Up to 5 duplicate readings on each standard
  • Auto calibration at start of sequence
  • 8 curve fits from which to choose
  • Auto re-scale capability
  • Hard copy printouts of curve, statistical information and G.L.P. compliant information

Accessories

Wide ranges of accessories are available to enhance the application potential of the 6500 series Spectrophotometers. The accessories are easy to install and are easily controlled from keypad.

630-005 Universal Cell Holder: Holds cuvettes with 20 to 100mm pathlengths.
646-001 Universal Test Tube Holder: Holds test tubes between 12 and 24mm diameters.
642-001 Sipper Pump: Automated, accurate handling of small volume samples. Allows greater repeatability by use of the same cell. Offers selectable one or two stage sample transfer for optional air-gap after sample read. Once read, the sample can be flushed to waste or returned to the sample vial. Visible and UV/Visible Flow-Through Cells available.
643-031 Peltier Cell: A heated system comprised of a cell block and external power supply module. Temperature of 20 to 50°C at resolution of 0.1°C and a temperature measuring accuracy of ±0.5°C. The temperature is set by onboard software.
647-031 Peltier Sipper System: A combined version of the Sipper Pump and Peltier System.
645-001 Vacuum Pump: Uses a "pour in, suck out" cell. For use with a high throughput of sample.
648-001 Water Heated Cell Block: For use when a small flow of temperature controlled water is needed to maintain a temperature range of 4 to 50°C.
037-302 External Peltier Cooler: For use with 648-001
037-202 Water Circulator: For use with 648-001
641-001 Internal printer
