Model CO30 Chilling/Heating PLC Column Oven is completely solid state. The only moving parts in the unit are the chamber fan and the cooling fan. This makes the design of the CO30 truly reliable. Being Peatier based, it has no compressors or CFC’s to worry about. This design makes the unit very energy efficient using only 230 watts of power maximum. That is less than many light bulbs.

The display is 5/8" (15.88mm) high liquid crystal and reads to 0.1EC. Temperature accuracy is 0.2°C over the entire range from 4.0°C to 70.0°C. The unit features single point electronic calibration for accuracy that is easily reset by the user to agree with local laboratory standards. The display can be changed from temperature to timer with a single key stroke. The timer reads in hours, minutes, and seconds from 99:59:59. The timer counts down and will alarm at zero. It also can be set to Auto-Off the heater/chiller when the timer counts down to zero. The keyboard is a tactile touch membrane with audio feedback. It has UP Arrow, DOWN Arrow, Heater, Timer, and Auto-Off keys. To set a temperature or timer just touch the appropriate key and UP or DOWN arrow until the display scrolls to the setting desired. The unit will then execute the command. The display will toggle between the target and actual temperatures when in the temperature mode. Also, all commands are backed up by a circuit that senses power failures and makes certain that the unit goes back to the set temperature when the power fails and then returns. A flashing temperature light lets the user know when a power failure has occurred.

The Model CO30 has several safety features. On power-up, it does a self check of all functions. If anything is wrong, the unit will not power up, and will display the letter "E"along with a number which refers to the problem as listed in the instruction manual. The Model CO30 also has a watchdog circuit to monitor the microprocessor for errors.
The chamber of the Model CO30 was designed for easy, unobstructed access to the column, valves, and fittings. The chamber is epoxy painted aluminum and resistant to most solvents. The chamber is large, 15.625" tall by 6.385" wide by 5.125" deep. The mounting posts for the columns are mounted on the door so that when the door is open, the columns, valve and fittings are out in the open for easy access. There are four mounting posts, each measuring 5.0" in length by 0.5" in diameter. The columns are held to the posts by viton "O" rings supplied with the unit making mounting and changing columns easy, and removing the mass of metal clamps from the chamber.

There are drains in the chamber for the valve and for any leaks onto the floor of the chamber. The tubing required is 1/8" ID. The valve drain comes through the base of the door. The chamber drain comes through the bottom of the unit near the front.

The unit has a painted aluminum chassis complete with tree-wire grounded, detachable AC line cord and instruction manual. The high and neutral lines are both switched and fused for safety. The CO30 cab be ordered in 100, 115, and 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz models.
